Device Hookup

Used to automatically connect disconnected components using combinations of fittings and rigid or flex components. Tool options provide additional detail for connection geometry. Fence and selection sets are supported.

SettingDescription
Type Sets the connection components to rigid or flexible.
Item As defined by the Type choice, contains all the rigid or flexible connection instances to use in the hookup.
Flex Length Keyed in value represents the maximum length of flex in the hookup run. Enabled for Flexible type.
Connection Angle Sets the elbow angle in the hookup run to one of the standard angles; 30, 45, 60 or 90.
Transition Tolerance Sets a safe offset between connected devices while they are at distance or in different planes. The transition hooks up the devices within the specified tolerance. If the distance between the components in hookup is greater than the allowed distance, the tolerance must be increased.
Invert Path Turn on to connect to a different side of the component to connect to. For instance, connect to the bottom instead of the side.
Stretch Ducts/Pipes When on the connected duct or pipe is stretched to accommodate hookup run rather than adding a new segment.
Use Fence When on all existing devices in the fence are connected to a selected duct or pipe.
Fence Mode The option menu sets the Fence (Selection) Mode when fence is used.
Minimum Length For rigid type hookup, sets the minimum length for the instance of the selected device being hooked up to one of the three options.
  • Default — sets the value to the default minimum length of the device, as seen in element info.
  • From AutoFitting — sets the minimum length as that of currently defined under the right click Set as Default AutoFitting option menu in Parameters properties in the DG Instance.
  • Manual — allows setting the minimum length of the device within the available margin that overrides the Default or AutoFitting minimum length.
Duct/Pipe Min Length Value Enabled only for manual minimum length value.

When the available distance in the hookup is less than the allowable length, a prompt is issued to enter a minimum length offering the best option to complete the hookup.
